                                                             MY DREAM

Diseases were very active back when I used to be a kid in my country and parents never sent

their kids outside to play because they faired their kid my get sick because the nearest hospital

was 4 miles away and there were rarely  any cars around and there were not to many good

professional nurses to help people with their problems. When I was a kid, I really used to think

about how my future is going to look like and my story of becoming a doctor begins.

When I first arrived to America I came with a different mindset and mindset to be the best

doctor I can be and to make enough money to take care of my family because they mean the

world. When in came here I knew I couldn’t become a doctor just like that there were steps,

process and difficult tracks I had to take, and I was ready for whatever was going to be thrown

at my face. The first challenge, actually it wasn’t really a challenge more like a guiding process to

college which was middle school and high school. In middle school I just started in eighth grade

so it was quick couldn’t make that many friends because I was new and was fresh off the boat.

So that when high school began everything was new to me and freshmen year passed by so fast

and then sophomore year come through and that when I got some friends and that’s when

everyone was trying to be cool and started smoking e-cigarettes, which was really addictive and

I even stared getting those because I thought it was cool smoking it. So weeks go by and my

friends smoking  cannabis and at first I was like that was going to far because it was my first

time even seeing it and which was illegal and I was denying it first but my friends peer

pressured into to smoking it and that after few weeks I really liked it and was addicted to it. Few

months goes by and I see my grades going down drastically and I was like ‘’wow’’ what’s

happening to me because every time I was doing an assignment a voice came to my head

saying you can finish it tomorrow and it continued and continued and that when I realized that

cannabis was making me lazy and stopping me to achieve my goal. It was junior year the most

important year of my high school semesters and I was trying my best to stay out of these bad

habits I enjoyed and started thing about how to better myself into becoming a doctor. So junior

year came, and I took a lot of ap classes and that year I just focused on staying on track with

everything and try get more credits I can possibly get. So mid junior year we started to apply for

colleges which was fun because I finally get to choose where I’d like to pursue my dream. So, I

took my sat and got a good score and I always heard that the city college of new York had one

of the best graduate for doctorate degree which got me excited because that what I wanted to

master in.

So finally senior year finishes and me and my fellow class of 2019 walked down podium as we

graduated high school and got our diploma, I could see all my teachers, guidance consolers and

all the board members in that graduation ceromancy and how can I forget, my family watching

me, walking down, with tears in their eyes and I could see how proud they were and that

moment was very overwhelming for me because all I want to see is my family safe and happy.

After the graduation was done me and my friends took pictures together and I realized that not

all my friends graduated and that when I thought to myself if I still hung out with them and did

all the bad things I would have just been like them and I think somethings it’s best if you have a

smaller circle of friends because if you have a big one you tend to get carried away with what

they want to do not what you want to do so that was one of the most important decision I made

in my high school year.

So, it was summer, and I booked a ticker to go visit my country after 5 long years of waiting. So,

I packed my cloths, bought gifts for my family back home and took off. The plane ride was very

long and I was just thinking when I would get to Bhutan. So, I finally arrive to Bhutan the air was

fresh and stepped out the airport and seen my whole family waiting for me and I went and gave

all of them a big hug. On the way home I see people working on the roads to make it better and

these people who made roads were very unfortunate and poor and their kids just going around

playing in a commute and environment. I really flet sad because I wanted to give back to them

but there were like a big group of people which I could help by myself it was going go be hard.

The next day I went to go see my old friends and there was a really bad news that my only of

my close friends passed away because he was very sick and that made me feel really bad

because we both had the same dream to because a doctor to save our people. So, 2 months

passes away and it was time for me to go back to pursue my dream and it was really fun in my

country because it was just getting developed and everything was new. The next day me and

my family wake up early in the morning to go to the airport and I say bye to all of them and I

could see tears in their and I knew it was tears of joy because they knew I was going to come

because to Bhutan with a doctorate degree.

Finally, I get because to New York and my college was starting the next day and I told myself this

is where it all begins, so I kept the same mindset and start getting ready to go to college. So my

day of college was not that bad nor good because not many people were social because I knew

they came to college to learn what they wanted to become and I really excited ,cause I knew this

is where I wanted to be at.

A Literature Review of Academic Interventions for College Students withLearning
DisabilitiesName: Rigden choejor The city college of new York Cover page
Over the years, I learned that students with learning disabilities has enrolled inpostsecondary
education has increased drastically. Numerous interventions have been used tobetter assist
students with learning disabilities and in achieving academic success. Many acts where passed
though like the Individual with disabilities education act (IDEIA) which was mad in 2004and the
Americans with Disabilities Act of 2008, and many more. It was not in small amount, people with
learning disabilities was all over the county. There were high percentage in how many students
have learning disabilities but even though it was high it didn’t reflect the actual number because
when they enrolled to college many of the students didn’t disclose their disability status.
Students who haslearning disabilities generally experience or undergo cognitive processing
deficits that are manifested in their difficulties with learning information processing, which was
very hard to help because there weren’t many technologies to go use or help the people with
learning disabilities get better education. Due to these situations students with learning
disorder will probably get less academic success than students without disabilities. So, the
postsecondary institutions provided many academic support programs for studentswith
learning disabilities to alleviate their academic risk and improve their academic success. Many
high school students how have learning disabilities didn’t reveal them self because of
onereason which was lack of self-disclosure of disabilities. Postsecondary institution provides
manyforms of extensive options and instructions course subject. There were two approaches
used by. post-secondary service which was based on whether the intervention changed the
learningenvironment or students mad an effort to promote their learning. What I think about
this program or institution is that they are trying their best to help everyone or especially
college.

Even though postsecondaryinstitutions helped a lot of learning disabilities, students still face some challenges and lower rateof academic success. So, their did a brief study on four groups Assistive Technology, directassistance, strategy instruction and comprehensive support program. So basically, assistivetechnology was created to better in learning difficulties with reading and writing with devices. It is was only device and product system. The most frequently used devices are speech synthesis system and voice recognition software and it really helped people with learning disabilities. . They even concluded that students who lack strategies, on reading and have writing deficits, assistive technology can be reallyhelpful. I personally like the direct assistance because it was one-to-one instructional strategy that allowed students to review and discuss specific course material with a professional. There was even a comprehensive support program that really help students with learning disabilities learn quicker and better because it provided individualized coaching and individual work with learning specialist. The article even talks about the future outcomes and where they are going to see themselves in the future which was a positive outcome.

The pros and cons of this assistive technology would be that pros, these sessions or programs
you are being helped will further help you be successful in life and cons will be if the
experiment or the program don’t work people with learning disabilities will have no hope in
achieving their goal and might end up failing So, basically students with learning disabilities still
have a chance to succeed in life and have a great future because there are many answers to the
problems which was trying to have better grade in class and being taught how to read and
write. In the research that I read it says that the program will have a long-term effect on the
student which is in the postsecondary education.

Over these five month period I have improved drastically and even made many friends, Improving I meant know how to write a 7 page essay to a 3-4 page essay there is a lot of difference and I even learned a lot of new vocabularies and I feel like the text book helped me a lot through the whole process and the class was really fun. In the exploratory essay I talked about how people with disabilities have hard time dealing with daily rotten like a normal person. But there is always a solution because there are new technology in the world that people are creating and especially people with disabilities.
